Lisa Niven Kelly from beaducation.com shows all the steps and tools for metal stamping jewelry.

This first video covers the tools needed for hand-stamped metal jewelry including “Why you should use a 1 lb. hammer” and how you should hold it.  Run time is just a bit over 7 minutes… and filled with the basics to get your started  stamping metal charms.

In this next video we learn to practice before stamping on the “real” charm.  I also see that “going with the flow” and who cares if your letters are little “wonky” is Okay. Nice…

The pendant created in this video is made with a 1″ circle (24 gauge) sterling silver. The  stamps used 3/32 size letters.

Oh – and “oxidizing with a Sharpie Pen is also perfectly acceptable.

I have some of these basic tools and supplies on hand – but I’m not ready to get started just yet. I want to learn how to stamp letters in a straight line first.

I’m really more of an “asymmetrical kind of gal” (meaning I don’t really need anything to be straight… wonky is a good thing).  BUT – I’d like to know how to stamp the letters in a straight line just in case.
